Things To Do

Just a few of the things you can do when you visit the Isle of Skye!

Daunvegan Castle

Dunvegan Castle and Gardens

Dunvegan castle and gardens are situated on a rocky outcrop on the banks of Loch Dunvegan. It has been the ancestral home of the Chiefs of the Clan Macleod for the last 800 years and is the oldest, continually inhabited castle in Scotland.

Clan Donald Centre

Clan Donald, Skye

Clan Donald, Skye is a magnificent 20,000 acre estate on the Sleat peninsula, just two minutes from the Armadale ferry terminal. You can explore Armadale castle as well as the historic gardens and woodland trails that surround it and you can also brush up on your Highland history at the Museum of the Isles.

Ellean Donan

Eilean Donan Castle

Eilean Donan Castle is just a short trip away, by the nearby, mainland village of Dornie. It’s probably the most recognisable castle in Scotland and some say, the most beautiful. It stands at the point where three great sea lochs meet and featured prominently in the film Highlander.

Talisker Distillery

Talisker Distillery

Talisker Distillery just 2.5 miles from the hostel, is the only distillery on Skye and produces the world famous and much loved single malt Talisker whisky. The distillery has a Visitor’s Centre where you not only get a tour but a taste as well!

Museum Island Life

The Skye Museum of Island Life

The Skye Museum of Island Life at Kilmuir, right at the top of the Island, offers an opportunity to experience for yourself, how the Islanders would have lived at the end of the 19th century and gives the visitor a real insight into how much things have changed since then!

Boat Trips

Boat Trips

Boat trips to see the amazing array of wildlife that lives on and around the Isle of Skye are available from several locations. You can take a short trip from the harbour at Portree to see the Sea Eagles swoop down and catch fish with their lethal talons or venture a bit further from the pier at Elgol to try and spot the elusive basking sharks and even whales!
