About The Hostel
|Situated in Portnalong, on the Minginish peninsula, Skyewalker Hostel is a pretty unique place! Originally constructed in the 1920’s, almost entirely out of wrought iron, it was the Junior Secondary school for the area until it closed in the 1970’s. In the 80’s it was converted to offer fantastic hostel accommodation for hill walkers and island visitors alike.
The hostel can sleep up to 40 people and has a variety of clean, comfortable rooms on offer, from private, two bed bunk rooms to the more sociable ten bed dorm!
Skyewalker Hostel has a stylish, well equipped kitchen, guitars in the cosy lounge and free, on-site parking. Outside, there’s a huge garden for guests to watch the spectacular sunsets from as well as an amazing glass solar dome to relax in. As there is so little light pollution, you’ll see the most awesome starry sky on a clear night with views of the Milky Way and even a chance to catch the Northern lights if you’re lucky!
A giant chess set is very popular with guests and for the visitors without a strategy, there’s a bar and takeaway just a five minute walk from the hostel!
The staff pride themselves on providing the very best of what Scottish hostelling has to offer and will do all they can to ensure that your stay is a memorable one.
Skyewalker Hostel would like to say a huge “Thank you!” to all our guests who voted us “Best in Scotland” in 2012 and again in 2014.
Our success is down to your reviews so thanks for taking the time to do it!
